Community Resilience

Definition

The set of community adaptation processes that, from an ecological perspective, take into account both internal and external factors in coping with adversity. Community resilience includes (Kimhi and Shamai, 2004) 1) the resilience tendency, which refers to the community’s ability to absorb the impact 2) the recovery tendency, which refers to the speed and ability to recover from the stressor 3) the creativity tendency, which refers to the creative potential of social systems to improve their functioning as a consequence of adversity.​
