Definition

Social soft skills are crucial for workers to perform their tasks, yet it is hard to train people on them and to readapt their skill set when needed. Soft skills can also be thought of as people skills. These can include good communication and interpersonal skills, leadership, problem solving, your work ethic, time management, and teamwork. These are characteristics that can be carried over to any position.​ A soft skill is a personal attribute that supports situational awareness and enhances an individual’s ability to get a job done. The term soft skills is often used as a synonym for people skills or emotional intelligence.The term soft skill refers to one of the many different aspects of the social behavior required to become successful at your job, be it a career in academia or in industry. These attributes can include communications skills and coaching and leadership abilities, as well as personal qualities such as friendliness, empathy, and optimism.

ESCO – Competence job matching​

A method to find the best match between jobseekers and vacant jobs by comparing the knowledge, skills and competencies of the candidate with the requirements of the employer. For successful job matching based on skills and competencies, relevant information needs to be extracted from job vacancies and jobseekers' profiles, analyzed and interpreted. It will enable IT systems to transform a jobseeker's work experience and qualifications into a likely set of skills and competencies.

Human resources are one of the key elements for the success of an IT project since their qualification and knowledge of hard skills and soft skills and an effective identification of these in the demands of each role or position are essential for the success of the project. This work presents a new approach that exploits existing reference models such as ESCO, eCF and NCSF (NCS Framework) as a basis for analyzing large datasets offered by existing labour analysis tools, such as the ESCO database with thousands of relationships between occupations and soft skills and the Ovate tool with millions of online job ads.
